With the cruise industry in an ongoing uptrend, more and more new ships are being built. Here are some of the top 5 new ships we are most looking forward to exploring in 2014 with you. (in alpha order)
AmaSonata – 2014 As pioneers in river cruising, AmaWaterways is always raising the bar. A few of the highlights we look forward to experiencing are the twin balcony staterooms and suites, multiple dining venues, the heated pool with swim-up bar and complementary bicycles to use on shore. This ship will be found on the Danube and Rhine Rivers. Maybe we put it on the list for either the tulip tour or the Christmas holiday…or both. 🙂
MSC Divina – October 2013 While we didn’t get an opportunity to cruise on this new ship in 2013, it is still top of our list. We have yet to sail on MSC but have been impressed by the response of fellow travelers and travel agents. The MSC Divina sails the Caribbean with its home port in Miami. It holds over 4,000 passengers and appears to be a very classy and elegant ship. One of the features we are most looking forward to enjoying is the infinity pool at sea. Ahhh….bliss.
Norwegian Getaway – January This ship is sure to not disappoint. It’s sister ship is the Norwegian Breakaway which we sailed on in May of 2013 and absolutely fell in love with. We look forward to trying the many, many dining options for every taste, broadway entertainment and five amazing slides. Not to mention the waterfront boardwalk which is a great place to relax and grab a drink anytime of day. The Getaway will be based out of port of Miami year round (after it is the Bud Light hotel for the Super Bowl weekend in New York — anyone want to give us a room that weekend??
Regal Princess – June Princess Cruises continues to innovate yet still hold true to some of the signature trademarks of the Princess fleet. We’re sure to enjoy an amazing atrium which we understand will be even larger than its sister ship the Royal Princess. All the outside staterooms are balcony staterooms which gives more options for the 3,560 passengers this ship will hold. The Regal Princess entertainment will include a fun light show, the SeaWalk, more casual dining options and of course as soon as we get on board we will be booking time in the Sanctuary.
Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas – November Perhaps one of the most anticipated ships of 2014 is the Quantum of the Seas which as they say is sure to WOW. Royal Caribbean once agains brings many firsts to sea including: sky-diving simulator, a capsule 300 ft above sea with 360° views, bumper cars and modular family-friendly staterooms. This ship’s home port will be New Jersey.
That’s our top 5, for now, we look forward to an amazing 2014. Let us know which ship, classic, new or updated, you are most excited about exploring in 2014! – Rob & Kerri
