Port Tampa Bay is our favorite port for many reasons. The 1st of which is that it’s our home port. From our house to the port is 20 minutes. Gotta love it!
And it’s not just popular to us. Last year over 850,000 people sailed from there onboard Carnival, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line and Holland America.
There are many reasons beyond the easy access, simple loading/unloading system, parking, and area hotels that make Port Tampa Bay superb. As travel agents, we have seen our share of airports, and Tampa International is by far our favorite. There are times when we have gotten off the plane, gathered our luggage, grabbed our car, and are home in 30 minutes or so from touchdown. The same applies to flying into Tampa’s Airport and getting to the cruise port. It’s a less than 20 min cab ride.
Another reason to take a cruise from Tampa are the great attractions nearby, the closest of which are the Florida Aquarium and the SS Victory ship. You can make these great pre or post cruise stops same day you depart or return from your cruise.
Busch Gardens and Adventure Island are just a quick 15 minute drive away, and in about 90 minutes you can be at any of the Disney Parks, plus Seaworld and the 2 Universal parks in the Orlando area.
And don’t forget the white sand beaches of Clearwater and St Petersburg, consistently ranked among the best in the world !
With so much to do including all of the professional sports teams in the area, it’s no wonder that Port Tampa Bay has become a huge player in the cruise market!
