We first saw her on our water taxi ride from the beautiful Hotel Danieli in the heart of Venice. It was a moment we will not soon forget. Even with her sails down, she is a gorgeous ship, and we couldn’t wait to get onboard and sail away
We were greeted by Captain Borowka and his staff, and welcomed with a fruity cocktail and a cool towel as it was quite warm in Venice. Walking around the ship was an awe inspiring experience. Royal Clipper is patterned after the 1902 ship Pruessen, and is the largest square rigged ship in the world. If not for the much needed electronics, you can easily feel as if you stepped back into the early 20th century.
She drew quite the crowd as she cruised down the main canal in Venice with inspiring music as the sails were raised. People all over both on boats and onshore, stopped and watched in amazement.
The timing was perfect as we watched the setting sun behind the incredible architecture.
On to Rovinj Croatia after our first night at sea. Since we had only been onboard for less than 24 hours, we spent the first part of the next day exploring the ship and swimming off the marina platform at the aft of the ship. You can relax on a floating mat, paddle board, or cruise around on a kayak. All at not extra charge.
Back onboard and time to raise the sails and head to Hvar, Croatia.
At dinner we were seated with two other couples, one from Wales and one from England. and that was is really special about this cruise. Meeting really cool people from all over the world. If the wi-fi signal ever gets song enough we will be coming to you Live on Periscope @AllAboardTV.
More to come…
